In 2022 General Music Director Kent Nagano and his orchestra place special emphasis on Arvo Pärt’s music. The 86-year-old Estonian artist is one of the most important composers of our times. At Hamburg’s main church, St. Michaelis, Nagano and the Philharmonic dedicate three concerts to him as part of the Philharmonic Academy, contrasting Pärt’s tonal idiom with further contemporary compositions as well as music by J. S. Bach. In addition to world premieres by the Hamburg-based composers Peter Ruzicka and Elmar Lampson, the Japanese composer Misato Mochizuki and her French colleague Jean-Baptiste Barrière are represented with new electroacoustic works. The Philharmonic State Orchestra is joined by the legendary IRCAM from Paris.

Venue: St. Michael's Church, Englische Planke 1, 20459 Hamburg
Prices: € 48,00 / 42,00 / 31,00 / 20,00 / 10,00
