Stiftung Philharmonische Gesellschaft

Hanseatic-Philharmonic Tradition

The "Stiftung Philharmonische Gesellschaft Hamburg" supports the Philharmonics and keeps the classic hanseatic tradition of the orchestra's founding fathers going. Since the season of 1985/1986 in which engaged citizens of Hamburg decided to support the orchestra, the foundation has sponsored numerous projects of the Philharmonic State Orchestra. For exclusive house concerts with the current General Music Directors, over the last 30 years the foundation has invited illustre guests like Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Giuseppe Sinopoli or Aldo Ceccato to the Weiße Haus on the Elbchaussee.

In the past, the foundation has supported the Orchestra Academy as well as being involved in buying instruments, financing tours, marketing campaignes, CD-productions and the newspaper extra "Philharmonische Welt".

"Whoever wishes to keep the great Hamburg music tradition going, needs to get involved personally. Our foundation stands for private engagement with the music life", says Dr. Eberhart von Rantzau, CEO of the Stiftung.

You too can show you feel connected to the music city Hamburg and its orchestra!
