Philharmonic Academy 2022
With concerts on the Rathausmarkt, at St. Michaelis and the Elbphilharmonie, Kent Nagano and the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra will start into the new concert season 2022/23 at the end of August and beginning of September as part of the Philharmonic Academy. The festival is focusing on music by Johannes Brahms and Arvo Pärt, but also contemporary composers such as Peter Ruzicka, Elmar Lampson and Misato Mochizuki have composed especially for St. Michaelis and the Philharmonic. New Concert season 2022/23
The Philharmonic will start the new season with Kent Nagano in August 2022 with the Philharmonic Academy and concerts at the Elbphilharmonie, on the Rathausmarkt and at St. Michaelis. The highlights of the 195th concert season include the 6th symphony by Gustav Mahler, Jörg Widmann's oratorio ARCHE and the opening concert of the Hamburg International Music Festival 2023. The Micro concerts
With the Micro concerts, Kent Nagano, Georges Delnon and the Philharmonic give an answer to the pandemic and its consequences of media flooding. In cooperation with international video artists, a cycle of five audiovisual concert programs was created, in which classical music meets current video art. After an exclusive streaming on Radio France, the videos are now online on the channels of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the Hamburg State Opera. Read more...
The premiere of "Don Pasquale" was broadcast live from the Hamburg State Opera on arte.tv/opera and time-delayed on TV as part of the ARTE Opera European Opera Season. The focus of the comical and turbulent story is the Italian star baritone Ambrogio Maestri and the Australian soprano Danielle de Niese. 100,000 Euros donations for Ukraine
In three concerts of solidarity combined with a donation campaign, the Hamburg State Opera and Philharmonic State Orchestra have raised more than 100,000 Euros in donations. The funds are destined for food and medication for the civilian population of Ukraine. "I am enormously grateful to our audience at these three concerts at the Hamburg State Opera and the Elbphilharmonie. The willingness to donate is huge, and this sum will make a small contribution to helping the victims of this brutal and absurd war," said Georges Delnon, Artistic Director of the State Opera and Orchestra.

The Philharmonic State Orchestra is Hamburg's largest and oldest orchestra. Every season, the Philharmonic gives about 35 concerts in Hamburg and appears in more than 240 performances of the Hamburg State Opera.
