Reaching into the gaping maw of fate – for the opening of the 2021 Hamburg International Music Festival, Kent Nagano and the Philharmonic State Orchestra present Beethoven’s Fifth as well as the world premiere of the triple concerto “Alisma”, a work for violin, cello, clarinet and orchestra by the Swiss composer William Blank. The soloists in this homage to Beethoven are cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang and the principal clarinettist of the Vienna Philharmonic, Daniel Ottensamer.

“Alisma” was commissioned by the Dresden Music Festival with generous support from the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden.
